This is one of my favorite memories.
The stork had dropped the screaming baby-bomb two minutes prior. She wailed, cold and shaking as the nurses measured and de-gooped. I walked up to the weighing table to meet my daughter for the first time. She'd been crying continuously for a couple minutes now.
As soon as Pigtails heard my voice, she stopped crying.
She knew me before she was born.

There is nothing quite like that moment.
ReplyDeleteAnd this cheered me up today. :)
This one made Pigtails and me smile, we hadn't watched it for a few years.
DeleteCute :) thanks for sharing!

Ah, the moment when Pigtails hatched from her egg! :)
ReplyDeleteNearly 10 years ago, like paper in the wind.
DeleteNothing more amazing than the first cries of your child! Memories and events often slip our minds, but those first sounds always stay sharp! I have 3 year old twins and I remember their first cries as if it was yesterday. :)
ReplyDeleteNew reader to your blog... really enjoying it!
Blessings,

Jumped over to your blog, lucky with twins, thanks for reading!
DeleteSo awesome, love these first moments. Every birth I photograph, I ask the Dad to talk to their baby, and every time they instantly hush. It's magic.
ReplyDeleteNew to your blog, I enjoy your sense of humor! And, love that you call her Pigtails
I read most of the "What to expect" book before Pigtails arrived, but I still had no idea the extent to which my daughter would recognize my voice the instant she popped out. It was one of those experiences I'll never forget!
DeleteI love this - sweetest birth story I have ever heard (besides my own girls - of course)!
