The Random Rambler

Season changes are a gift, we milk the fall bounty with frequent day-trips to drink God's creation.  Windows down, cruising lazy Iowa countryside, plucking Golden Delicious by the peck and apple cider by the gallon.  Hopefully some day I'll live outside the city.

The orchards have stepped it up since I was a kid, now replete with air trampolines large enough to bounce Megatron, super slides and laughing goats.

If you follow B&P over on Facebook, you'll see the Templeton Rye whiskey barrel I plundered from a local brewer this weekend.  No idea what I'll do with it, but had to have one.  Al Capone was fond of bootleggin' the stiff nectar.

I've been experimenting with different methods to chronicle India, time-lapse/stop motion is one of those techniques.  I built a slow-mo timer for the GoPro to pan as it clicks pics.

Here's a boring 1-minute clip stitched together from 1200 photos, one shot every two seconds as it rotates.  This gives me the practice I need to get it right on coming vid's:

India cohort Ketan is arranging a 10-hour motorcycle romp from Pune.  I'll bring a suction cup mount to bind the GoPro to bike for recording first-person cuts of chaotic streets there.

---
I ran the pricing math and will do 4 oz. medium-sized bags of Graziano's Italian Seasoning for $10, shipping included.  If you live in the lower 48 states and would like some spices, please send an e-mail to beardandpigtails@gmail.com.  Paypal, please, 10 in stock, I'll add your name to the waiting list if they sell out.

Pigtails' mother came through well from her brain surgery.  She is relearning how to speak, since one of the tumors wrapped the lobe responsible for speech.  Doctors say one year, Pigtails thinks her mom will get better and come out clean, just as she did five years ago when first diagnosed.

I poked Curls a couple times to finish the SeaWorld recap.  It's a dandy and worth the wait, I'll slap it this weekend.  She's skilled with the pen, here's a slice:

We had just finished up a flight simulation ride called “Wild Arctic”, which forces an exit into what is described as a “polar playground”.  Behold the beluga whales!  We were lucky enough to arrive as a pair of guests, donning wetsuits, was in the midst of their “extra cost” beluga whale interaction experience.  I can’t speak to whether or not it’s worth it to pay extra for such an encounter, but I can assure you that I got my ya-ya’s just watching.  Sea World describes these mammals as “gentle” and “social” creatures and, based on what I observed, that is spot-on.  I was holding Pigtails on my hip so she had a better view and between the two of us, we uttered phrases like “look at the precious cutie”, “he, she, it… is so beautiful”, “ah, she’s a smartie pants”, “I think she smiled at me” (that was Pigtails, not me), “listen…she’s singing”.

    1. The extras are a rippoff, we did Deal's Orchard near Jefferson, IA. We liked it, a peaceful afternoon with a Pizza Ranch finish on the town square.
