Beaver Paddle

Floated the $149 Menards kayak down Beaver Creek last evening.  5 mile paddle hooking to the Des Moines river, with a mile portage through the woods towards home.  Mountain biked back to the car in the black of night, sucked a hard shell Junebug down my air hole.

Based on the color and ragged edges of my boat, I'm guessing it was molded from recycled Tide jugs.

Wish I could do the Boundary Waters.

    1. The suction mount on the camera loosened a couple times and splashed the drink. The outtakes were hot swears as my camera floated by.

  3. Do they sell this incredibly affordable kayak on an internet site? I live in Annapolis and we have zero water vessels. Lame. But the costs of kayaks have continued to astound me....

Menards sold this boat the last two years as a single weekend special, they might run the sale again next spring:

  4. Awesome looking paddle. I would love to do Boundary Waters some day too. Had a chance when I was in high school to go as part of a scout trip but things fell through and I wasn't able to go. Hopefully one day I will be able to convince work and my wife to give me a few weeks to go up there and explore.

  5. Looks like a great time. My daughter I just crossed over that Johnston bike trail bridge you went under that heads to n Saturday. There were about 4 or 5 people kayaking below at that time. Is Beaver Creek always navigatable or is this possible due to higher water level? Makes me want to give this a whirl.

BTW...heading to Boundry Waters first week of August. Clearwater Lodge on Gunflint Trail. Can't wait!
